Overview
From the official site: WinRAR is a powerful compression tool with many integrated additional functions to help you organize your compressed archives.
WinRAR has a built in synthetic benchmark but we didn’t find it to be very “real world”. So instead of us passing over this great piece of software that we all use daily we created our own tests.
Testing
Start out with a Windows XP Pro CD and turn it into an ISO file. You can use several programs to do this; I made our test ISO with Nero.

Right click on your ISO file and click Add to archive.

A window like this will appear. Change the Split to volume setting to Zip100 and hit OK.

You are now watching the test. Record the final number shown in the Elapsed Time Counter, this is your score. (Lower is better)
