INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            There are many people out there who want to buy a brand new Core i7 system but most of them don't really want to spend too much money for a motherboard and considering that the i7 compatible mainboards start of at 170Euros and go up to 430Euros that is quite reasonable. In the past few months, GIGABYTE has introduced many X58 based motherboards, some targeted to the mainstream market and some to the high-end enthusiasts market. The first mainboard by GIGABYTE is the GA-EX58-DS4 which is one of their mainstream models and after lots and lots of testing i can finally release this review.

 

 

            GIGABYTE was founded in 1986 and started off as a research and development team. Since then not only have they taken the lead in the world's motherboard and graphics accelerator markets but also further expanded their product line to include more diverse digital products such as Notebook and desktop PCs, digital home appliances, networking servers, communications, mobile and handheld devices, servicing every facet of people's lives at home or at work. Up to 2008, GIGABYTE has knitted worldwide networks with 8500 employees in almost every continent to offer the most thorough and timeliest customer cares since they truly believe that delighted customers are the basis for a successful brand. GIGABYTE aims for nothing but excellent. With all their outstanding products and designs they have received numerous professional awards and media recognition. Also worth mentioning is their unmatched record to have 100% of its entry qualified for Taiwan Excellence Award for the 11th year up to 2008.

 

 

         Although the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-DS4 motherboard falls short in comparison to the Extreme version that does not mean that it is a motherboard that's lacking in performance. The DS4 variant always was the mainstream model by GIGABYTE mostly targeted at ordinary every day users and gamers who want a fast system that has the ability to to overclock quite easy but without the extreme extras found in most expensive models. I have been a GIGABYTE user ever since 1996 and all of their solutions performed excellently and so i knew more or less what to expect when testing the GA-X58-DS4 variant.
