INTRODUCTION

My first portable music player was an walkman cassette player about 20 years ago. Since then technology made gigantic leaps and so i followed, initially by buying a waterproof portable CD player and soon after that a minidisk portable player. All of them covered me in every area but one, number of music tracks. That changed about 8 years ago with the appearance of an MP3 player, or at least it started changing since the first MP3 portable players had room for about 50 mp3 or wma files. Needless to say i went and grabbed on which i managed to break in a matter of days. Eight years later capacities in portable players have changed and now you can own a player with room for thousands of music tracks and if that wasn’t enough now you can also playback movie files in most of these devices. Sansa is a SanDisk Brand and is one of the best companies in that field with many great portable players in the market as we speak.

SanDisk was founded in 1988 by Dr. Eli Harari, an internationally recognized authority on non-volatile memory technology. Since then SanDisk has grown to become the world's largest supplier of innovative flash memory data storage products serving both consumers with their 200.000 + retail storefronts worldwide and also providing units as an OEM manufacturer. SanDisk designs, develops, manufactures and markets flash storage card products for a wide variety of electronic systems and digital devices while at the same time they also license their technology to a number of other industry-leading companies. With flash memory's capability for storing large amounts of data in a compact, removable format, SanDisk's products have helped drive the exponential growth in sales of digital cameras, multi-function mobile phones, USB flash drives, digital audio/video players, and other digital consumer devices. SanDisk currently has more than 860 U.S. patents, more than 550 foreign patents, and more than 1440 patent applications pending in the U.S. SanDisk is the only company, worldwide, that has the rights to both manufacture and sell every major flash card format, including CompactFlash®, SD™, miniSD™, microSD™, MultiMediaCard™, Reduced Size MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC™ ), Memory Stick PRO™ and related Memory Stick® products, xD-Picture Card™ and USB flash drives. SanDisk became a publicly traded company (NASDAQ:SNDK) in November 1995, and in 2007 revenues grew to $3.9 billion. With more than 3000 employees, worldwide, SanDisk is headquartered in Milpitas, California.

The first unit by SanDisk that we have here is the Sansa View 16GB Video MP3 Player and as you will see later on it is a very small portable player with an enormous variety of features and supported file formats while at the same time it comes with a quite reasonable price tag. I happen to know that many people look for a device like that so i am not going to make this any harder so let's move to the main part of this review.
