The DEEPCOOL ASSASSIN heatsink is designed for extreme overclockers that want the best thermal performance from an air-cooled heatsink. Just looking at the ASSASSIN you know it is going to be efficient, because this thing is a behemoth with dimensions of 5.5 x 5 x 6.2 inches and that is without the fans. Additionally, the Assassin features 8 U-shaped heatpipes that run up the twin towers. Most heatsinks have a maximum of 6 heatpipes, so it will be interesting to see how these additional two pipes add to the thermal performance.
The ASSASSIN also screams high quality. The materials used in the design are all top notch. The fin material of the heatsink is solid aluminum, and the base and heatpipes are made of nickel plated copper. DEEPCOOL has even gone as far as to give the base a mirror like finish, which improves the contact with the CPU and they also use what they have dubbed a shark teeth like fin design that improves the visuals of the heatsink and it also improves the air conduction between the fins.
A massive heatsinks such as the ASSASSIN isn’t going to be cheap, and currently the MSRP of this product is $79. Still, that is cheaper than a lot of All-in-one water coolers, so if the performance is good enough, the Assassin could be a good value.
