Infortrend EonNAS 510 Pro Review
Article Publish Date:
Over the last few years I have had the much appreciated pleasure of testing many NAS appliances from Thecus, Qnap and recently Asustor. All of these aforementioned companies have been around the block a time or two and have made a name for themselves. One company that doesn’t readily come to mind is Infortrend, but their aim is to change that. Infortrend is not a new company, in fact they have been around for quite a long time designing enterprise level storage solutions. Now though, Infortrend has found a hole in the market that they aim to fill with the EonNas lineup.
The EonNAS line of NAS appliances takes aim at the entry level SOHO and SMB market with features like the ZFS file system, which up until now was only found in appliances from Thecus. Adding to this you will find many enterprise features such as data deduplication, data compression and WORM or Write Once Read Many. In computer storage media, WORM (write once, read many) is a data storage technology that allows information to be written to a disc a single time and prevents the drive from erasing the data. The discs are intentionally not rewritable, because they are especially intended to store data that the user does not want to erase accidentally. Because of this feature, WORM devices have long been used for the archival purposes of organizations such as government agencies or large enterprises.
