Introduction

 

 

 

Today we are taking our first look at Cooler Master’s new flagship to the well accepted Cosmos line of cases, the Cosmos II.  This won’t be a full review.  That will have to come later.

 

 

 

This case will leave you with an impression from the second that you try to pick it up.  When a case comes with a $349 price tag, it better.  The shipping weight on the packaging and the product is 57 lbs.  The UPS man didn’t even want to lift it when he dropped it off to me.  He actually set it down in my driveway and had me lift it.  Once I did, I understood why.  Weight is something that you usually expect from a high end full tower case.  It has always given me a feeling of quality that you definitely want in this price range of products. 

 

There are some other things that you would typically expect from a $200+ case besides the risk of a hernia.  These cases usually offer outstanding acoustics, they are usually very quiet.  Some are able to get great thermal performance while maintaining this low noise level.  You should expect that you are getting every modern connection type, eSATA and USB 3.  The high end cases have always had better options for cable management.  Since Corsair’s release of the 800D, in my opinion the first case in a while to push the cable management envelope, you have seen all case companies competing in the high end market follow suit with rubber in every cutout that will be left seen once the computer is assembled and usually black metal instead of shiny steel or aluminum.  If a company can deliver all of that and throw in some style to separate them from the pack and add a dash of innovation that their competitors didn’t then they can get something that really peaks our interest.  You can tell before you even open the box that Cooler Master has delivered on at least most of those promises.  So, we will see to what degree they have done so and give an outside look before our full review coming soon.
