Introduction

 

 

When we reviewed the N2800 from Thecus just a few months ago, I came away thoroughly impressed at the level of performance and quality that was packed inside such a small NAS. It didn’t take me long to get with Thecus and start discussing our next review – the N5550.

 

The N5550 is a 5 Bay NAS marketed towards small and medium businesses looking to save some much needed cash while maintaining the performance of similar 6 bay NAS appliances.

 

The N5550 also has McAfee antivirus embedded giving user’s confidence that their data is protected from malicious activity. HDMI and VGA outputs are also included, after installing the local display modules users can connect a capable HDMI display device and manage data directly from the NAS. The N550 also supports audio input and output making this NAS a great device for playing multimedia files in your living room, easily taking the place of your AV streaming device.
