Introduction

 

 

 

Xigmatek abruptly came into the cooling market in 2005 and quickly made a name for themselves, releasing the many variants of the 1284 the most notable being the Red Scorpion.It has indeed been awhile since I have seen anything from Xigmatek,but we were able to contact our rep over there and sample up the Prime, and Venus that we will be reviewing next week.

 

In our last review of a CPU cooler the Cooler Master TPC812 demolished our charts setting some high benchmark numbers and cementing a pretty substantial lead in the market.Xigmatek has always been that mystery company,operating more on a trend then innovating and never getting wildly popular.Not only known for its heatsinks, Xigmatek also produces cases and power supplies as well. When it comes to other cooling products, Xigmatek has you covered. Besides CPU coolers, you can find aftermarket coolers for VGA cards, memory, and even hard drives.

 

The Xigmatek Prime SD1484 that we are reviewing today is a slim tower type cooler that uses four 8mm direct contact copper heapipes and has room for two 140mm fans,although only one is included in the box. When it comes to heatsinks I look for innovation and try not focus on flashy plastic bits or LEDs that give it "bling", I simply want to know does it work, is it efficient and how loud is it. To me, the way I view elegance is in something's simplicity and details that improve its functionality and get right down to what matters: Performance.
