AVC Black Samurai CPU Cooler
Cases and Cooling

During my many years in the PC area i have witnessed two significant breakthroughs in CPU cooling. The first breakthrough was the use of the known to all of us by now, heat pipes that successfully managed to transfer heat from the base of the cooler to the fins of the cooler and thus affectively reducing the CPU temperature. The second breakthrough was to make these heat pipes to directly contact the CPU casing thus improving the efficiency of the cooler. This technology was called Heat-pipe Direct Touch and was first implemented in Xigmatek CPU coolers.
AVC is a Taiwan based company which was established in 1991. They are currently the OEM supplier for many major companies in the field but they also sell their products under their own brand name. Their manufacturing plant has several production lines for a variety of cooling systems such as CPU coolers, fans, notebook coolers, cases, power supplies etc.
The product reviewed today is the latest in AVCs product line and is called the Black Samurai. Not a bad name for a cooler if i may say so. The Black Samurai features 6 heat pipes, a PWM fan, is compatible with both LGA 775 / 1366 sockets and according to AVC it should have nothing to be jealous of other high end CPU coolers from the big companies out there. Competition is always good for the end user so i really hope they are right.
