INTRODUCTION

    Having owned  a variety of headphones and home theater sound systems in my time it is natural for me to respect the significance of sound when watching a movie, listening to music or playing a game. Although i strongly believe that even the best headphone set cannot replace a good 5.1/7.1 home theater set still there is no doubt that they come handy in many occasions whether  you just need to listen to music in the comfort of your home without disturbing anyone else or while on the road. When it comes to state of the art games and movies a 5.1 headphone set is light years ahead of the classic 2 channel stereo one.

    ULTRASONE is a well known German headphone manufacturer founded in 1991 and is located in Tutzing a place near the German Alps. Through continuous research ULTRASONE is now considered to be one of the best headphone manufacturers worldwide. Their product range spans from the basic 2 channel Stereo Headphones up to the Professional and DJ 5.1 channel range.

     Today i have the privilege of testing their latest mid-level headphones, the HFI-780. The HFI-780 is a low impedance headphone set with great sensitivity, 5.1 surround sound and crystal clear sound quality via the S-Logic system. The lack of a microphone in this unit is made up by its audio and construction quality. Our goal is to find out exactly how good this set is and if it can also be used by serious gamers besides audiophiles.
