INTRODUCTION

With the upcoming high end Intel X79 based mainboards finally making their debut in around 3 months i really hope that our already huge LGA1366 CPU Cooler database will come to a halt and get replaced with our new LGA2011 one, if all goes according to plan that is and the new mainboards are not delayed further. So today we will be taking a very thorough look at the latest CPU Cooler by ARCTIC (Former Arctic Cooling) called the Freezer 13 Limited Edition.
ARCTIC initiated the trend towards quiet cooling systems for desktop PCs in 2001 and has led the way ever since. ARCTIC is now a leading manufacturer of CPU coolers, GPU coolers and case fans. In recent years we acquired a far-ranging expertise in the field of consumer electronics. The company’s product range has been further enhanced by new lines unrelated to PC cooling which was the reason behind the 2010 change in our brand name and logo: ARCTIC COOLING became the ARCTIC brand umbrella. As an internationally active company, ARCTIC’s expertise ranges from noise suppression for PCs, audio, peripheral equipment and power supplies, right through to entertainment products. ARCTIC is the umbrella brand for the COOLING, SOUND, EQUIPMENT, POWER and HOBBY product ranges.
Right from the start it's very easy to see that the Freezer 13 Limited Edition is almost identical to the Freezer 13 with a couple of additions such as titanium black plated aluminum fins/heatpipes and a metallic gray fan impeller. Other than that both coolers feature a cooling capacity of up to 200W, same 92mm fans with a max speed of 2000RPM and the same measurements. With the Arctic 13 series ARCTIC aims at the mid-end segment of the market meaning people who'd choose a small, cost effective, easy to install and good performance CPU Cooler over an large, expensive, hard to install and powerful one.
