Apacer Share Steno AC430 USB 3.0 500GB HDD
Article Publish Date:
It seems that most people i know have decided to carry portable HDDs instead of my personal favorite flash drive. Of course i can relate to that since nowadays you can actually buy a 2.5" portable 500GB HDD for the price of a 32GB flash drive and that alone is enough of a reason for them to get down that path. True you don't have the size of a flash drive and so it may prove somewhat difficult to carry it with you all the time but having 16 times more storage space for the same price is simply irresistible. Today we will be taking a detailed look at such a unit and more specifically the latest Apacer offering called the Share Steno AC430 500GB HDD which as expected uses the latest USB 3.0 connection for high data transfer speeds.

What immediately makes the Share Steno AC430 stand out from the daily increasing crowd of 2.5" external HDDs is its very sturdy and elegant aluminum casing (most similar products feature plastic enclosures). The USB 3.0 connection is also a plus but it's certainly nothing to get excited over, not when USB 3.0 has been around for almost 2 years now (surprisingly enough however some companies still manufacture enclosures with USB 2.0 connectivity). Overall the Share Steno AC430 performed quite well during our extensive testing although i feel it could do much better, as to why read on to find out.
