INTRODUCTION

With the latest Sigma Design HD decoding chipsets coming our really soon (if all goes according to plan) it comes as little surprise that most media player manufacturers have come to a halt when it comes to introducing new models. On the other hand media player manufacturers who are using Realtek HD decoding chips have introduced quite a few new products lately. A.C.Ryan is one such company which as you all know introduced the latest PlayON!HD 2 and PlayON!HD Mini 2 just a few months back. Having already reviewed the PlayON! HD 2 unit we now have its largest brother in our hands, the PlayON!HD 2.
AC Ryan has been one of the leading producers of quality cabling & accessories for international companies since 1992. The establishment of the modding product line in 2002 led to the international brand awareness of AC Ryan. Known for innovation and quality, never afraid to break new grounds, AC Ryan instantly became a favorite of promodders and advanced users. Pioneering the revolutionary CableFREE concept, introducing Connectx connector modding system, advancing the FlexSleeving craze, infecting half the modworld with UVactive Fever... there's no doubt AC Ryan leads the way. To this day, modders around the world still use AC Ryan ProModding products to give their award winning casemods the final touch.
Both the PlayON!HD 2 and the PlayON!HD Mini 2 are based on the latest Realtek HD decoding chipset, the RTD1185DD which as expected is the best and fastest ever manufactured by Realtek, to date that is. However they do have three main differences which are the USB 3.0 connection, EZ swap drive bay and card reader found on the larger PlayON!HD 2, other than that however both units are identical in almost everything else. Since however in these reviews pictures speak louder than words let's move forward and see exactly what A.C.Ryan has to offer with their latest PlayON!HD 2 Full HD Network Media Player.
