INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

    Much like with most things in life finding the ideal headset to cover your needs may take time and some serious thinking since the market is literally filled with countless choices from a very large number of both known and unknown companies. Arctic cooling which somewhat recently changed its name to Arctic has launched a wide range of audio products from speakers to earphones and headsets which offer a very nice bang for your buck. The P531 Surround Headset is their best model to date and we decided to take it for a spin in order to see just what one can expect from it.

 

 

    ARCTIC initiated the trend towards quiet cooling systems for desktop PCs in 2001 and has led the way ever since. ARCTIC is now a leading manufacturer of CPU coolers, GPU coolers and case fans. In recent years we acquired a far-ranging expertise in the field of consumer electronics. The company’s product range has been further enhanced by new lines unrelated to PC cooling which was the reason behind the 2010 change in our brand name and logo: ARCTIC COOLING became the ARCTIC brand umbrella. As an internationally active company, ARCTIC’s expertise ranges from noise suppression for PCs, audio, peripheral equipment and power supplies, right through to entertainment products. ARCTIC is the umbrella brand for the COOLING, SOUND, EQUIPMENT, POWER and HOBBY product ranges.

 

 

    In the entire industry (regardless of product) there are three different company types, manufacturing companies which also sell their products under their own brand and manufacturing companies which prefer to sell their products as OEM (slightly changed for obvious reasons) to the third and last type of companies which in turn have only a small production line, if at all and base almost their entire product portfolio to OEM products carrying their brand name. This of course is quite natural especially after taking into consideration just the huge cost required for any company to own even a single production line of a single product and so one can't really blame this for happening. Now the reason i mentioned all of this is because the P531 5.1 Surround Headset by Arctic Sound is almost identical to the USB Surround Sound Headset by Sandberg which we had the chance to test a while back something which will become quite obvious as we continue this review.
