INTRODUCTION
Although CPU’s are getting more and more power efficient and quite cooler at the same time the aftermarket cooling solutions keep getting larger and larger, especially the high end and expensive ones. The current way of things seems to favor large U type tower heatsinks with 4 or more heatpipes bundled with 120mm fans for increased airflow. However since more and more companies manufacture similar cooling solutions some try their best to come up with ideas that might improve the performance of their solutions and make them stand out from the rest of the competition.
Xigmatek is a Taiwan based company founded in 2005 and targets to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the PC cooling Industry. In order to ensure reaching that goal, Xigmateks excellent management followed up with hard work, experiences and customer friendly business style along with their innovative products have managed to bring them a long way ever since.
The CPU cooler which i will be putting to the test today is the Xigmatek S-1284 Achilles, which offers the classic Heatpipe Direct Touch (HDT) technology found in almost all of their cooling solutions. Xigmatek has managed to gain a place in the top 5 CPU cooler manufacturers list over the past year and a big part of that success is thanks to the HDT technology which was later own adapted by other brands in the field. The Achilles is about the best looking CPU cooler in the Xigmatek arsenal and perhaps the best performing also. Since it so happens that i am Greek i sure hope that the Achilles can perform on par with the hero who’s name it has taken.
