INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

    Sunday is by far the best day of the week for me mainly because it’s a day off for most people which automatically means that with temperatures surpassing 33 degrees Celsius people (women in particular) have started storming the beach. Aside the good things heat brings however the increase in temperatures has quite a negative impact on our systems especially when it comes to crucial components such as both the CPU and GPU. Here are RWL not only have we covered just about every CPU Cooler available in the market today but we have also reviewed quite a few GPU cooling solutions including the ones in our somewhat recent VGA Cooler Roundup . However since many of you have requested for us to test the latest Arctic Accelero Xtreme Plus with the Gainward GeForce GTX 580 Golden Sample we couldn't really say no and so today we bring it to you.

 

 

    ARCTIC initiated the trend towards quiet cooling systems for desktop PCs in 2001 and has led the way ever since. ARCTIC is now a leading manufacturer of CPU coolers, GPU coolers and case fans. In recent years we acquired a far-ranging expertise in the field of consumer electronics. The company’s product range has been further enhanced by new lines unrelated to PC cooling which was the reason behind the 2010 change in our brand name and logo: ARCTIC COOLING became the ARCTIC brand umbrella. As an internationally active company, ARCTIC’s expertise ranges from noise suppression for PCs, audio, peripheral equipment and power supplies, right through to entertainment products. ARCTIC is the umbrella brand for the COOLING, SOUND, EQUIPMENT, POWER and HOBBY product ranges.

 

 

    The Accelero Xtreme Plus is the latest addition in the Accelero product line and much like its predecessors it's compatible with a wide range of cards including the latest GeForce GTX 580 by NVIDIA. Unfortunately the Accelero Xtreme Plus has a single flaw since in order to use it with any of the compatible graphics cards you need to purchase an extra package with all the compatible heatsinks for the cards memory modules. Of course the cost is very low but still i would really like to see all of the heatsinks available in the package even if that means slightly increasing the price. In any case the Accelero Xtreme Plus proved to be an excellent cooling solution for the GeForce GTX 580 as expected since the Accelero line has always been incredibly efficient in cooling graphics cards.
