INTRODUCTION

Creative (Creative Labs) is amongst the very first companies in the PC Industry and for the past 20 years they have been designing and manufacturing some of the best soundcards in the world. A few weeks back we reviewed the latest Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD which to my knowledge is the best gaming soundcard currently out there since even after putting up against two of the best soundcards in the market (ASUS Xonar Essence STX – Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro) it still managed to surpass them quite easily especially in terms of surround/positioning audio. Creative however designs and manufactures a large range of products aside soundcards from headphones and speakers up to MP3/4 Players and Tablet PCs and so today for the first time we are taking a look at one of their latest gaming headphones, the Tactic 3D Sigma.

Creative is the worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer (PC) and the Internet. Creative was founded in Singapore in 1981 with the vision that multimedia would revolutionize the way people interact with their PCs. Famous for its Sound Blaster sound cards and for launching the multimedia revolution, Creative is now driving digital entertainment on the PC platform with products like its highly acclaimed ZEN line of digital audio players. The company's innovative hardware, proprietary technology, applications and services enable consumers to experience high-quality digital entertainment-anytime, anywhere. Since launching the phenomenally successful Sound Blaster sound cards and setting the de facto standard for PC audio in 1989, Creative has been able to leverage on its leading-edge audio technology, huge user base and strong brand name to expand into the exciting lifestyle Personal Digital Entertainment (PDE) market.

The Tactic 3D Sigma is not the only product in the Tactic 3D line, the Tactic 3D Alpha and Omega are also available with the Alpha as the low-end model, the Sigma as the Mid-End model and the Omega as the high-end one. Now although the Sigma has quite a few differences with the Alpha, the Omega is almost identical with the Sigma with wireless being their main difference. Overall as you will see later on the Tactic 3D Sigma is indeed a very good sub USD100/100Euros headset and although in the past Creative was not as good in headphones, mostly in terms of pricing, that was then and this is now.
