INTRODUCTION

The main reason as to why i started using PC systems back in the very early 90's was of course to play the best games available at that time. I mean who can forget Wing Commander, Vikings, Doom, Hexen and many more legendary games of that time? However it wasn't until 1996 when Wing Commander 3 The heart of the tiger was released that i actually decided to buy a flight controller so i could blow as many kilrathi out of the sky as i could. Today things have changed and although we no longer have the flight/space simulators we used to (Wing Commander, Freespace, Freelancer, etc.) we now have far more realistic driving simulators and as expected we also have state of the art steering wheels. Logitech currently manufactures the most advanced steering wheel in the market the G27 and since many of you asked we took it for a ride mostly to see how improved it really is compared to the previously reviewed G25.
Logitech was founded in 1981 at Apples, Switzerland and the first device they conjured was the mouse which provided a more intuitive way of interacting with computers. Since those early days they have expanded their expertise in product design beyond the computer mouse, with a broad portfolio of interface devices that are the “last inch” between you and your computer or your console game, digital music or home-entertainment system. With products sold in almost every country in the world, Logitech’s leadership in innovation now encompasses a wide variety of personal peripherals (both cordless and corded), with special emphasis on products for PC navigation, gaming, Internet communications, digital music and home-entertainment control. For each of their product categories they study how our customers use their digital devices and their our designers and engineers set their sights on how they can create a better experience with those devices – richer, more comfortable, more fun, more productive, more convenient, more delightful. Focused on innovation and quality, Logitech designs personal peripherals to help people enjoy a better experience with the digital world.
Compared with the previous G25 model the new G27 sports the same high build quality (perhaps even higher), a slightly different design and quite a few new features such as more thumb buttons, improved force feedback dual motors, RPM/Shift LED indicator on the wheel and a new shifter. Overall the new G27 Racing Wheel is a very impressive product and is easily the best of its kind currently in the market something which can be easily seen in this review. The only problem for some people is certainly its price since just like its predecessor it’s somewhat high, still you always get what you pay for so if you want the ultimate realism while playing a racing game you just have to own a good steering wheel.
