INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

    As you are all aware a few days ago we reviewed one of the best External HDDs in the market today, the G-Drive Pro 2TB by G-Technology and as usual to showcase exactly what to expect in terms of speed we compared our results with results from several other external HDD solutions in the market. However many of you asked if it would be possible to compare the G-Drive with a better eSATA external enclosure than the one we used and so because of that today we will be taking a look at one of the markets best standalone external enclosures, the Icy Box IB-326StUSE2 by the well-known to all of us Raidsonic.

 

 

    RaidSonic was founded in Hamburg in 1999 and in May 2004 they moved to Ahrensburg due to the need for larger warehouse space. Ever since Raidsonic has grown into one of the best known corporations around especially in the PC market not only as a result of the high quality components and materials used in their solutions but also because of their permanent improving logistic and expanded technical support.

 

 

    What really makes the Icy Box IB-326StUSE2 stand out from the competition is not only that you can easily swap hard disk drives but also its many available interface connections since not only can you connect it with your system via the usual USB 2.0 port but also via FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and eSATA. Normally i have to admit that i don't expect lightning fast performance from standalone HDD enclosures but as you will also see later on the IB-326StUSE2 scored remarkably in all our tests.
