INTRODUCTION

No matter how many media player reviews we do there are always plenty more around and so true to our promise we are doing our best to review pretty much all of them in order to make it easy for you to pick the right one. So today we bring you yet another review of one of the markets best network media players currently, the S800 Ultra by Egreat.

EGREAT was established in August 2006 and is based in China. They have spent much on the R&D department in a continuous pursuit of perfection in arts and crafts and that ensures that they get high quality and innovative products. Their current product line includes multi-media hard-disk players, HD network HDD Players, Network storage servers, digital photo frames, advertising machines, USB video creator, USB DVR surveillance system and company accessories. Having already reviewed most Multimedia Network Tanks from EGREAT we have quite a good idea of what kind of performance to expect from their high quality and feature rich solutions.

The S800 Ultra is based on one of the latest Sigma Design HD decoding chips the SMP8643 and so we pretty much know what to expect in terms of A/V quality. However the S800 Ultra also features built-in Wi-Fi, DVB-T support (extra tuner) and unlike all other Egreat models (and perhaps all other Media Players in the market up until today) it also comes with two different operating systems one of which features the classic Egreat menu while the other is more like the one we see with HDI Dune players. Overall the S800 is the best media player Egreat has manufactured to date so let’s move forward and see why that is.
