With Internet speeds increasing day by day it's really only natural for more and more people to turn towards High Definition video calls either with friends and family or at work. However just like with most PC hardware HD capable Web Cameras are also starting to grow in numbers making it quite hard for anyone to pick the right one for their needs. Of course most people judge solely based on price and not quality so in a way if you are such a person you definitely won't have any issues picking one. However for the rest of us who are mostly interested in features and audio/video/picture quality things become quite more complicated and for that reason for the past year we have been testing most HD Web Cameras in the market to see what capabilities and quality one can expect from each solution.
FaceVsion Technology (FVT) is the global leader in pioneering solutions that empower consumers and SMEs with true-to-life HD video communications experience over public and private internet. Armed with HD codec know-how and embedded systems design expertise, FaceVsion offers a full range HD solutions including VideoCams, universal video processing units (FVexpress™), and full function set-top phones (FVfone™). Together with its partners around the world, FaceVsion delivers and enhances video communications for users worldwide. Other than Taipei headquarters office, there are three other branch offices in US, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Unlike Logitech and Microsoft which have joined the FullHD Web Camera race for many months now FaceVsion is a rather new company and not well known around the world but that didn't stop them from manufacturing an high quality 720p capable Web Camera like the TouchCam N1. Recently FaceVsion also launched their TouchCam E1 FullHD capable model (1080p), which we should have with us quite shortly. Generally as you will also see later on the TouchCam N1 comes with some features not found in other high end Web Cameras in the market such as dual unidirectional microphones, detachable USB cable and true plug and play support (no drivers needed) so we were quite curious to see how well it would do in terms of image quality.
