INTRODUCTION

 

     In the never ending quest for a quieter and colder computer one of the best ways is to change the stock CPU Cooler with an Aftermarket one. While in comparison to a few years back the stock coolers in nowadays are a lot better but still they can't go up against a good aftermarket solution. Both Intel and AMD bundle rather cheap CPU coolers in order to keep the cost low placing performance in both temperatures and noise levels as a secondary objective. In the end almost always you get what you pay for.

     Todays review is about an silent and cheap aftermarket solution by GlacialTech a rather new company in the cooling field since they really started in mid 2006 but with experienced founders counting many years in the cooling business. The Igloo 5750 is an intriguing CPU cooler featuring not one but two 92mm silent fans in push and pull configuration, something quite original in the field at least when it comes to factory ready solutions. Also the Igloo 5750 is compatible with both socket 775 Intel processors and AMD K8 CPU's (socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+).

      In addition to the Igloo 5750 Silent GlacialTech has also released another model called Igloo 5750 PWM with variable fan speeds according to the thermal load of the CPU and with larger in depth fans for better performance but with slightly more noise output. Unfortunately Glacialtech did not provide us with both samples to really see and report any differences in performance and noise.
