INTRODUCTION

So far 2011 has been very kind to hardware media player fans since most companies have already released their latest models and have already announced their upcoming ones based on the latest Sigma Designs and Realtek HD decoding chips. Now since we have reviewed most known Media Players in the market during the past 3 years we have also secured most of the current and upcoming units for all of you to see and make up your mind about which is the most suitable for your needs. Today we are taking a look at the latest RaidSonic Network Media Player the IB-MP3011HW-B. RaidSonic has also announced a DVR solution the IB-MP3012HW which we have also secured for an upcoming review.

RaidSonic was founded in Hamburg in 1999 and in May 2004 they moved to Ahrensburg due to the need for larger warehouse space. Ever since Raidsonic has grown into one of the best known corporations around especially in the PC market not only as a result of the high quality components and materials used in their solutions but also because of their permanent improving logistic and expanded technical support.

The Icy Box MP3011HW-B is based on one of the latest Realtek HD decoding chips the RTD1073 DD(C+) that features a very nice balance between quality and cost. That aside the unit follows the quite classic aluminium design RaidSonic has been using with their media players for the past years which is something most people like due to its high build quality. Naturally RaidSonic is not trying to target Enthusiasts with this product but rather people who want a good solution without having to spend much. That does not mean that the IB-MP3011HW-B is short on anything, quite the opposite, it’s just that much like with all else there are always better solutions out there which cost more.
