INTRODUCTION

Computer systems have evolved a lot in comparison to the old days. From single CPU and graphics card solutions a few years back we have now moved to multi CPU and GPU systems that require huge amounts of power. If you own a multi core CPU along with cards in SLI or Crossfire then it is necessary to own a very good power supply of both performance and build quality in order to stably power your system.

Cooler Master is a brand recognized by almost everyone since they have been in the business of making top quality and performance CPU coolers, fans and cases for a long time. It wasn’t however up until a while ago that they decided to also enter the power supply market. Cooler Master was the first company to release an 80 Plus Silver power supply a few months back with the announcement of the Ultimate Circuit Protection series.

Today we will be testing one of their latest power supplies the UCP 900W (Ultimate Circuit Protection) model in which Cooler Master has managed to achieve an efficiency of 88% and an impressive average efficiency of 86.5% which is one of the highest numbers if not the highest found in a power supply up until now. Under the hood Cooler Master claims to have installed an new innovative circuit board design and superior Japanese made components while at the same time they have covered it with a 5 years warranty, a number quite rare in the power supplies market since most companies in the field offer warranties up to 3 years.
