INTRODUCTION

A few days ago at CeBIT several companies introduced engineering samples of their latest and soon to be on shelves everywhere 80Plus Platinum Certified power supply units ranging from 450W all the way up to 1200W. Of course 80Plus Gold Certified power supply units are more than enough to cover 99% of the users out there but you know how it is, if you have money to spare and you are part of the Enthusiast group then having the best is all there's to it. So until the first 80Plus Platinum Certified power supply units reach our test bench let's take a look at the latest 80Plus Gold Certified PSU by Cooler Master the Silent Pro Gold 1000W.

The Silent Pro Gold 1000W is certainly one of the best power supply units Cooler Master has ever launched and the 80Plus Gold Certification is proof of that. For the past 3 months however i have heard many people saying that the Silent Pro Gold 1200W has serious ripple issues and that automatically means that Cooler Master has launched an mediocre product, on the other hand however everyone agrees that these ripple issues are only present when testing with standalone machines like Chroma and so most people will never encounter them in real world usage. True i have to agree that when you launch a product it should be flawless in every single way and so between a product with ripple issues and one without the second is certainly better but i just wouldn’t go as far as to call something mediocre when i will never get to encounter a specific issue. With this small note out of the way the Silent Pro Gold 1000W passed all our tests with flying colors and even after 6 days of continuous testing the only issue we did encounter where the noise levels coming from its fan which is quite natural when you overload a device like we did.
