INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

    One of the several small challenges people with HTPC and CAR PC systems have to face is finding a keyboard small enough to fit in tight spots. Personally i don't actually like HTPC systems since i like power over portability, although i have one for many different reasons but i am also interested in building a CAR PC system (if i can find room to place it inside my car) and so i have been trying to find a very small and wireless keyboard that can easily fit inside the glove compartment. VisionTek is a company mostly known in the graphics card market but they also manufacture several other products such as TV tuners, Power Supplies and several input devices such as the CandyBoard mini wireless keyboard.

    The CandyBoard keyboard actually comes in two different flavors, one with 2.4GHz Wireless connectivity and one with Bluetooth wireless connectivity with the first having slightly less range than the second (although i really can’t think of a reason as to why one would be 30 feet away from his HTPC system). In any case the CandyBoard unit is basically an illuminated keyboard with a touchpad and a laser pointer all combined in one package which is quite impressive if you take into consideration its tiny size. So let’s take a look at the 2.4GHz version and see if it really delivers.
