INTRODUCTION

Every single day that goes by i seem to hear a new company name in the PC hardware market and in a very strange way that makes me happy mainly because of the increased competition and thus reduced prices and better products. Now last week we started bringing to you reviews of all the latest CPU Coolers in the market and so for this week we bring you a review of a unit made by a rather unknown company (outside Germany) in the PC market called Alpenfoehn.
Alpenfoehn is a yet well-respected German based company founded back in 2001 and is focused ever in manufacturing efficient cooling solutions for PC systems. The company got its rather strange, yet ideal name for their field from a specific type of extremely cold wind in the Alps mountain range called Alpenfoehn.
The Matterhorn is currently the best unit in the Alpenfoehn line of CPU Coolers and since this is the very first time I’ve come into contact with one of their products i have to say that i was quite amazed by the quality and performance levels i faced during testing. The Matterhorn CPU Cooler got its name from a large mountain in the Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy which was also the last great Alpine peak to be climbed. The unit follows the typical tower design and also comes bundled with their very own 120mm Wing Boost fan along with mountings for both Intel and AMD CPUs.
