INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

     Seven days ago one of my secondary HTPC units stopped working without any particular reason, it just stopped. After going through the basics it was easy to see that it was the power supply unit which had passed away and although it was manufactured by a good brand name the power output and internal components were both not of the highest level. Now using 1250 and 1200W power supplies on my 3 primary systems i have never come across any issues but for my secondary HTPC systems anything above 600W seemed overkill, a mistake that i will not be making ever again since usually with highest output levels companies tend to use even better components. Our tests sample today is one such power supply unit and although its output of 800W is not the highest around still its build quality is almost excellent. The name of the product is the GX800 and is made by Cougar a subsidiary of HEC, a German company most of us have learned to trust over the years.
