INTRODUCTION

Hardware media players have become without doubt the hottest gadgets for the past year and with sales increasing with each day i think that they will continue that way for a long time to come. Personally i would choose a media player over a Blu-ray player any day of the week and the same applies for most people who are really into technology and gadgets. The perfect combination however, for me at least, would be a Blu-ray media player and that is not something we see often in that segment of the market, on the contrary we almost never see such devices. HDI is perhaps the only company that actually offers such a combination right from the box and for all of you who have seen our HDI Dune BD Prime 3.0 review a few months back this is certainly not something new, today with us however we have another Blu-ray & media player combo unit and more accurately its successor the Dune HD Max.

HDI has been in the business of manufacturing top notch standalone Media Players for many years now but it wasn't until recently that the prices of their products reached relatively normal levels for the end user. Their products are in unique both in built quality and features and so you are guaranteed that you are getting the best in this segment of the market something that comes as no surprise since they have won countless awards from media all over the world. Their customer support has no rival not only because of their continuous firmware updates but also because HDI is perhaps the only company worldwide that gathers feedback from their customers about what new features to add in their units.

Generally speaking the Dune HD Max comes with several additional features when compared to its predecessor but it also comes without some and that is perhaps what bothered me the most since i was expecting the same great features found on the Dune BD Prime 3.0 and more. Of course i am not an engineer and so there may be several reasons as to why HDI decided on adding/removing some features which i am not aware of but i know that when people really want to do something there's always a way. With that being said let’s move on and see what the Dune HD Max is capable of.
