INTRODUCTION

So far 2010 has been quite a good year for hardware media players (media tanks) since in comparison with 2009 there has been a huge boost in sales worldwide thanks to no small part to the fact that companies have been focusing in producing cost effective units for mainstream users. Of course on the top of the sales charts we see companies like Egreat, ACRyan and Western Digital but slowly more and more are trying to get up there. Today’s review is about such a company, namely Apacer and their new AL670 HD Media Player.
Apacer Technology Inc. is a global leader in memory module and digital storage hardware and software. Since the company's inception, Apacer's focus on recording, reproducing and retaining all types of digital data has been the driving force in providing customers with the best memory products and services. Apacer understands the importance of data and how consumers use data. Through customer feedback and strong market research, Apacer's young, creative and dynamic team culture develops products that are innovative in design, engineered for high reliability using state-of-the-art technology, and that match consumer needs. The Apacer brand promises consumers they can "Access the best" memory modules and digital storage products and services.
The AL670 by Apacer is a FullHD media player based on the Realtek 1073DD HD decoding chip and since as many of you know it has been replaced with the 1283 version for quite some time now i really don't know as to why Apacer chose this course of action. In any case this is their first promising attempt in the media player market and judging by its design it just may be something good. In terms of media support the AL670 is capable of playing a wide range of media files including MPEG-1 (MPG/DAT), MPEG-2 (AVI/ISO/IFO/MPG/VOB), MPEG-4 (AVI/Xvid/ASP/AVC HD/H.264), WMV, FLV, KMV, RM/RMVB, TS, M2TS, TP, MJPEG, MOV, VC1, and RM/RMVB.
