     Look, there are a lot of choices out there when it comes to video cards.  Companies look to cater to every single performance need and price point, and it can be a little overwhelming for someone new to the game to learn exactly what they need.  When the HD5770 was released by ATI, it quickly made a name for itself as the “bang for buck” champion for those that wanted premium features and speed out of their graphics cards without having to spend three to four hundred dollars for the highest end GPUs.  The low voltage draws of this card also made this card popular among those that look for power savings on their electric bill.

 

 

 

 

 

     When you think about companies that offer video cards, Gigabyte may not exactly be the first company that comes to mind when you’re shopping around, but they are taking some huge steps to change that.  Gigabyte’s Super OverClock (SOC) series of cards offer the largest overclocks out of the box and premium cooling to keep the extra heat away from the GPU.  Their “GPU Gauntlet” process cherry picks the best components for this series of cards. 

 

 

 

 

 

     This will be an adventure for me as this is the first time I have reviewed a video card.  Gigabyte was nice enough to provide me a sample of their HD5770 SOC to take a look at.  I will be stacking it up against my current card, the ATI HD5850.  While I am not going in thinking that the 5770 will be able to outrun its big brother, pitting these cards head to head could help those wondering if they need to spend a big chunk of change for the higher end card.  But enough of my rambling; let’s dive in and take a look at what Gigabyte has to offer with their HD5770 SOC.
