INTRODUCTION

It was just a few days ago that we had the opportunity to test 2 of the latest Liquid Cooling Solutions in the market and although the results were far from breathtaking we did see quite a difference between Air and Liquid Solutions. However since these solutions in their majority happen to cost quite a lot more than normal Air Coolers we decided on taking a few steps back and continuing our Air CPU Coolers reviews and as a first one we picked the latest and most cost effective solution by Scythe, the Katana 3 CPU Cooler.

Scythe is one of the most known companies in the PC industry mainly because they have been making some of the best coolers around for many many years. From the Scythe Ninja to the Scythe Infinity and Mugen, there is a Scythe cooling solution virtually for every possible need a user may have. It is no coincidence that the Scythe name has been synonym to the CPU cooling for a long time.

Much like most cost effective Air CPU Cooling solutions in the market the Scythe Katana 3 is not aimed at enthusiasts, gamers or overclockers but rather to people who have either bought an OEM CPU package and want to pair it with a cheap cooler or for people who just want to replace their stock CPU Cooler with something better. So aside the performance factor which i expect to be just better than the stock solution i have to admit that the Katana 3 has one of the most weird designs i have ever seen, i just hope that it adds to the overall performance of the unit and is not just an design thing.
