INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

 

     With the introduction of the i7 platform INTEL has been ontop of the performance charts for quite a few months now. Of course that feet is no small part thanks to the X58 chipset and the various designs many companies use with their solutions based on that. Having already tested quite a few mainboards based on the X58 chipset we know what to expect from one such unit and that is top of the line performance, great features, great overclocking potential and a hefty price tag. Of course the last is something that seems to bother many INTEL i7 potential buyers. ECS has been manufacturing cost effective mainboards for many years now and they took it upon themselves to produce an X58 solution with a very low price tag in comparison always with the competition.

      The X58 mainboard we have here with us today is the second X58 mainboard manufactured by ECS and is basically a revision of the first model, no doubt ECS named it X58B-A2. Feature wise it sports almost what every other X58 mainboard out there does and so the main question is if a cost effective unit can go up against far more expensive solutions made by larger companies.
