NesteQ Silent Freezer 900 CPU Cooler
Cases and Cooling

It wasn’t so long ago that ‘high-end’ air cooling didn’t exist. The best you could get was something like the Thermaltake Blue orb, and if that wasn’t enough water-cooling was your only option. Heat-pipe technology has revolutionized the air cooling sector since their introduction. You can now experience temperatures close to what you would get with water-cooling, but without the hassle of having to change the coolant and tubing periodically. Manufacturers are constantly trying to find better ways to implement heat pipes to maximize performance. Xigmatek were the first company to introduce ‘Heat-pipe Direct Touch’ technology, where the heatpipes were exposed and in direct contact with the heat spreader of the CPU. A lot of companies have used the same principal, finding this method not just more efficient at transferring heat, but also cheaper and easier to implement.
