INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

 

              Up until today we always brought you external 2.5 inch HDD enclosures that featured extreme security features capable of protecting your sensitive data. However by doing that we never did focus on people who did not care about security but looks and for that i just had to find an elegant external 2.5 inch enclosure to fill that blank and since most 2.5 inch enclosures are either made by steel or plastic and in some cases poor leather quality it took me sometime to find one worth of a review. Of course once more the answer came from our friends over at Raidsonic with the IB-283 model.

 

 

               RaidSonic was founded in Hamburg in 1999 and in May 2004 they moved to Ahrensburg due to the need for larger warehouse space. Ever since Raidsonic has grown into one of the best known corporations around especially in the PC market not only as a result of the high quality components and materials used in their solutions but also because of their permanent improving logistic and expanded technical support.

 

 

              The Raidsonic IB-283 is one of the most elegant ( if not the most elegant ) external 2.5 inch HDD enclosures i have ever seen. The body is 55% made by leather and 45% by metal making it extremely endurable yet elegant enough to carry around you in your leather jacket since it looks a lot like a cigar case than anything else. Of course you will not find any kind of security feature on this device but as i said this is not targeted towards people with sensitive data storage needs. I for once find it extremely useful to own an enclosure which i can carry in my leather jacket without having to worry about its looks.
