INTRODUCTION

Up until this moment the only Optical Drive i had was installed in the normal 5.25' drive bay slot of my case since i never had a reason to buy an external one. However this changed with the appearance of Blu-Ray Rewriters and so when i got my hands on a the Plextor solution i had to choose between installing it in another drive bay or finding an high quality external case worth installing it in. Took me a long time searching for the ideal enclosure since i wanted something that really stood out from the crowd and one day the solution presented itself to me by the people over at Raidsonic.

RaidSonic was founded in Hamburg in 1999 and in May 2004 they moved to Ahrensburg due to the need for larger warehouse space. Ever since Raidsonic has grown into one of the best known corporations around especially in the PC market not only as a result of the high quality components and materials used in their solutions but also because of their permanent improving logistic and expanded technical support.

The IB-550 is an external 5.25' enclosure which looks like no other due to the blue LED lights surrounding it. That aside it features eSATA and USB2.0 connectors and it is made by high quality steel and plastic. Chances are that you will most probably like it more than anything else in the market today. So let's move ahead to the review and see what i am talking about.
