INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

 

             Not too long ago a watched a guy trying to defend his opinion that even a 400W power supply is sufficient to run a SLI system without a problem and that anything above 400W for a simple system is overkill. I really can't say i blame him considering there are quite a few review sites worldwide who confuse their readers and as result most of them buy low-end power supplies only to find out that they need a new one soon after. I have always said that the more you can spend on a power supply the better since power supplies are just about the only hardware which does not change too often. A few days ago we decided to test a mainstream power supply, the Tuniq Potency 650W mainly because we wanted to take some time off testing bigger wattage units. However it was not ment for that to last and so today we are back with one of the biggest power supplies in the market when it comes to power output.

           The Revolution 85+ line of power supplies is the latest and most advanced Enermax has ever made. To be honest this line is currently the most advanced power supply line in the market with no direct competition by any of the other major players in the market, at least not now. The variant we have here with us today is the 1250W variant and although 1250W may sound impressive what's really impressive is the fact that it can achieve an efficiency factor of up to 91% and never fall beneath 85%. Now for all of you that may not be aware of how things are i will just tell you that most high end power supplies can hardly reach an efficiency factor of 85% while only a few of them can go up to 88%. Now 88-91% may not sound much but in order for a power supply to stand out from the crowd it must mean something.
