INTRODUCTION

Ever since the introduction of the i7 CPU line by Intel there have been many CPU Cooler manufacturers that have provided support for the LGA1366 socket, others by making available their LGA1366 installation mounts for free and others by bundling them inside their retail packages. However how well can a CPU cooler originally designed for the LGA775 and the C2D/C2Q CPUs perform with the new i7 platform? Recently we reviewed such a cooler, namely the Thermaltake SpinQ CPU cooler and performance wise it did exceptionally well but not remarkable. Remarkable is what i expect from coolers designed for the i7 CPU (backwards compatible of course) and soon we will have a large number of those to review. Today’s review however is not one of those since the CPU cooler in question is the Nexus FLC-3000.

Nexus Technology BV was established in 2000 by a group of experts on heat conductivity and noise reduction in the computer industry. Their expertise and in depth knowledge and experience on heat conductivity issues and thermal characteristics was gained by working closely with many of the larger pc manufacturers for several years. The idea that brought all of them together and made Nexus a reality was to create a full line of high quality computer components which could improve the working environment by reducing noise levels. Ever since the beginning Nexus is continuously developing products to reduce noise levels and consequentially improve heat conductivity and airflow and their sole goal is to build a strong and reliable trademark for silent computing.

The Nexus FLC-3000 is nothing really exciting in terms of design and looks. The standard C-type configuration is used with a small angle, more or less what we have seen in the past with the GELID silent spirit cooler. However the FLC-3000 is larger and so it should perform better. Since this is the third i7 CPU cooler that comes to me ready with a LGA1366 mounting kit i will not be able to test it against other CPU coolers in the market. Unlike my LGA775 CPU cooler list my LGA1366 list is just starting to warm up and so in due time i hope to have plenty of coolers in my comparison chart to provide you with all the information you need.
