INTRODUCTION

PC Cooling has been one of the most discussed issues between users for many years now and I really don't see an end to that, not anytime soon that is. Personally I can't really say I am that much into overclocking. Sure from time to time it's nice to experiment in order to check whether you still have what it takes or not but on a daily basis I am just your average overclocker and nothing more. Perhaps that's why I still enjoy testing CPU Coolers so I guess that's a good thing in the end. Today we are here to test and see how the very first CPU Cooler to hit the market by NZXT called the HAVIK 140 fairs against the competition.

If you look back a few years you will see that most manufacturers started off their CPU Cooling lines with simple, single fan solutions with medium performance levels. However lately we have seen quite a few new manufacturers (in the CPU Cooling field) storming the market with large, dual fan solutions capable of very good results and of course corresponding price tags. NZXT also decided to get down the same path and so the HAVIK 140 is a dual 140mm fan solution but unlike other similar units NZXT decided to only use a single large heatsink with their solution instead of two medium sized ones (sandwich coolers). That decision by NZXT however has one negative and two positive sides to it. You see on hand the HAVIK 140 is indeed slightly less powerful than dual heatsink solutions but on the other hand it's smaller and thus you will certainly come across less clearance issues (if at all while the 140mm fans used by NZXT are much quieter than what we generally see with similar units.
