INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

    With Christmas just around the corner and due to certain sad events that have happened during the last days this will most probably be amongst the 3 last reviews of 2011 and that's mainly because many of you have asked for it repeatedly over the past month and you all know how i hate letting you down. However Christmas time also means more money to spend (even in such hard times) so this review should be quite useful for people who are out looking for a new power supply unit. Now as some of you are aware the latest and most high end (to date - with the Titanium not far behind) 80Plus certification to hit the market is the Platinum one and as expected we have received quite a few units with it the first of which is the brand new Platimax 1200W by Enermax.

 

 

     Enermax Technology Corporation was founded in Taiwan in 1990 and today is one of the leading manufacturers of PC components (power supplies, PC cases, cooling fans, keyboards, HDD enclosures and other peripherals). Since 2000 the head quarter is located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Six subsidiaries and numerous affiliates around the world provide an excellent network for ODM/OEM and retail business.     If you've been following our reviews you will certainly remember the excellent 80Plus Gold certified MAXREVO power supply by Enermax we tested a while back which missed the 80Plus Platinum certification by 1% and produced very solid rail stability. Of course that was great but it also ment that in the long run Enermax would have to try quite harder to surpass its performance and that was pretty much the only thing i wanted to check with the Platimax 1200W. Overall as all tests showed the Platimax 1200W is a definite improvement over the MAXREVO and although it may not seem as large as some would expect let’s not forget that the MAXREVO was released just a few months ago.
