PATRIOT WILDFIRE 120GB / 240GB

Patriot is now amongst the leading companies in the SSD market and their latest Wildfire line is responsible for that.

As you can see we received two Patriot Wildfire samples, the 120GB and the 240GB desktop upgrade variants which both come just with an 3.5" adapter and mounting screws.

The Wildfire line features a nice ash like colored casing and a large sticker at the front indicating the SATA III connectivity and capacity of each drive.

A large sticker with the capacity, factory loaded firmware version and serial number is also present at the rear of each drive.

The Wildfire line is also SATA III much like with most units in this comparison.

Opening both drives was quite easy and as you can see only the 120GB variant has NAND ICs on both sides.

Both drives use the latest SandForce SF-2281 6Gb/s controller featuring DuraWrite technology and improved garbage collection algorithms compared to their first generation controller.

Patriot has chosen 32nm NAND flash memory (for faster speeds than the competition) and more specifically Toshiba TH58TAG802FBA89 ICs for the 240GB model (8x32GB) and Toshiba TH58TAG602FBA49 ICs for the 120GB model (16x8GB).
