INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

   With the imminent arrival in stores of the next AMD beast the mGPU Radeon HD 6990 high wattage power supply units is certain to have their jobs cut out for them and so with that in mind today we bring you yet another Worldwide first review (in English at least) of the latest HuntKey X7 1200 power supply unit. HuntKey is a company we never had the chance to cooperate in the past but just by looking at their latest achievement the X7 1200 you can see that they are not joking.

 

 

    Huntkey Enterprise Group, founded in 1992, is a professional provider specialized in the development, design, manufacturing and marketing of power supplies. The products of Huntkey cover a wide variety, including power supplies (1W~250KW), power systems, computer cases, universal notebook adapters, chargers, power supply converters, etc. The industrial parks of Huntkey in Shenzhen and Heyuan and Hefei which cover a total area of over 750,000 square meters are now the largest IT manufacturing base in China’s mainland. Huntkey with over 7,000 employees has set up its branch companies in Hong Kong, Japan and Europe. Its clients are found all over the world in more than 30 countries and regions, including Lenovo, DELL, etc.

 

 

    The X7 1200 is a 80Plus Gold certified power supply unit and as mentioned its build quality is obvious right from the start but the real surprise was when we removed the chassis to see what kind of components HuntKey used. That aside (since we will be covering that section later on) the unit comes with Six +12V 20A Rails, phase-shifted full-bridge, CRM interleaved PFC, synchronous rectification and DC to DC modules. Generally the HuntKey X7 1200 Gold is amongst the best units we have ever seen and tested, performance-wise, something that was kind of a surprise for us since HuntKey was not known to us.
