QNAP TurboNAS TS-219P+ NAS Server (Updated)

Although mainly targeted to the business/enterprise segment of the market up until a few years ago Network Attached Storage units, or NAS in short, have now managed to enter our houses since they offer a cheap way to share files over a network along with several other features such as the ability to download torrents, host a webpage or even connect your IP camera and use it as a recording device. QNAP is one of the leading companies in that particular field with countless award winning products including their TS-219P NAS server. Today however with us we have the improved version of that, the TurboNAS TS-219P+ NAS Server which comes with quite a few aces up its sleeve.
QNAP Systems, Inc. is a privately held company founded in 2004 and is dedicated to bringing world class NAS storage, professional NVR video surveillance, and network video players to consumer, small/medium business, and entry level enterprise market segments. QNAP leverages not only hardware design but also a growing core competency in software engineering that is precisely focused on bringing to market products that offer the highest available performance coupled with outstanding reliability, scalability, and ease of installation and use. QNAP is a multi-national company with headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan, and subsidiary offices in China and the United States.
Although the TurboNAS TS219-P+ is considered to be an entry level solution for home and small businesses it really has little to be jealous of its larger brothers, aside of course the fact that the more high end units have room for more hard disk drives which makes it easier to handle larger amounts of data. On the other hand for all of you wondering about what performance numbers to expect with NAS devices well i can certainly say that speed is not really an issue with such units since after testing it up against both the latest RaidSonic and an Synology NAS solutions (entry level models) we recorded similar performance numbers when it comes to data transfers (with the TurboNAS TS-219P+ always on the lead) and that is why in the end we decided not to include such a section in this review but rather focus on its features.
