INTRODUCTION

Regardless of how many CPU Coolers i have reviewed or generally used in my life, which are really countless, there’s a single thing that i have never really seen up until today and that is a top notch passive CPU Cooler. Many passive CPU Coolers do exist in the market but performance wise all of them seem to fall short when it comes to overclocking. Thermalright is really one of the few companies in the CPU and GPU Cooling area that has pioneered quite a few things and so i was not so surprised to learn over a year ago that their R&D was working on the best passive CPU Cooler to date, the HR-02.
Thermalright is an elite design house that manufactures cooling products for computer components for the best quality and performance your money can buy. In 2002, AMD released its first generation Thunderbird CPU and since then we have been there every step of the way to counter high voltage and high heat with innovative design and highly acclaimed cooling solutions not only for AMD but for Intel as well. One of early well known solutions was the SK-6. With many positive and rave reviews under its belt Thermalright bolted to the top as the heat sink manufacturer mostly preferred by Overclockers and enthusiasts around the World. To this day, innovation never left our vocabulary as we keep coming up with leading edge designs staying ahead of the competition.
When in terms of size the HR-02 sits between the VenomousX and the Silver Arrow CPU Coolers something that explains its passive cooling potential. On the other hand however it’s not as tall as some of the best CPU Coolers out there and so the HR-02 may become the weapon of choice for every HTPC owner out there searching for the quietest solution. But in order for you to understand what i mean with the term passive performance let’s move to the rest of the article without wasting any more time.
