INTRODUCTION

We hardly have 3 weeks before NVIDIA officially releases their new line of Graphics Accelerators and already people are anxious to see what kind of power supplies these new beasts will demand to work and although i am quite certain that even a good 600W power supply will be capable of powering one of these cards i still believe that it is better to have more power just in case you need it than not have it if you do need it. Corsair is a company which became widely known for their incredible memory modules and blazing fast USB flash drives but for the past few years they have strongly entered the power supply market with the TX and HX series of power supplies. The main differences between these two lines are the warranty period, modular cabling and construction quality with the HX series as their leading product.
Corsair has been a leader in the design and manufacture of high-speed modules since 1994. Our focus has always been on supporting the special demands of mission-critical servers and high-end workstations, as well as the performance demands of extreme gamers. While maintaining this core focus, in recent years, we've also brought our expertise, technology leadership and legendary quality and reliability to memory and other technology products for the more mainstream consumer.
Today we will be taking a look at the flagship of the TX series, the TX950W. This power supply comes with 5 years of warranty, has an 80Plus Silver certification and unlike the HX series it is not modular. The build quality of the unit as you will see later on is excellent and its performance follows closely. The only issue with this unit is the fact that it is not modular and so it will be quite impossible to fit the cables in a mini/midi/HTPC case. That aside its price tag is quite low for a Corsair product and that along with the other things mentioned will certainly make this unit appealing to many buyers.
