INTRODUCTION

Every now and then we receive certain products that either surprise us with their design or their performance and rarely products that do both. In the Power Supply area i have only seen a handful of units that took me by surprise with their performance and design and so i was very happy when i saw the latest Thermaltake power supply unit, the EVO BLUE 650W since its design reminded me something from Star Trek, Doom and generally many sci-fi movies. Of course that did not mean that performance wise this was a good performer but since all of the Toughpower units i have ever used performed incredibly i kinda took its performance for granted and as you will also see later on i was not wrong.
Since the beginning of Thermaltake in 1999, they have been at the forefront of creating new and exciting products at a time where most computer users were provided little to no choices for components that may seem irrelevant, but in reality crucial to the performance of a PC. Thermaltake Server Series solutions, with years of thermal experience and industry leadership, sets its goal on reforming total thermal management in server segment by formulating the perfect mixture of versatility, efficiency and thermal management with each respective server product category: Rackmount Chassis, Server Fixed & Redundant Power Supply and Server CPU Cooling Management Solutions. With its comprehensive line of products available, it enables Thermaltake's core customers to enjoy a one-stop-shop experience, reduce product design-in evaluation period and most important of all, flawless integration process. Each of Thermaltake's strengths enables its customer to focus on their core business while taking advantage of the skills and efficiency of a single thermal management solution partner.
Technology wise the Evo Blue series are not that much different from the Toughpower series, both utilize a single +12v output, active PFC, 140mm fans and similar internals. What really makes the Evo Blue stand up from the crowd is the extremely cool design and the five user-adjustable LED environmental lighting effects which should match any color you have in your tower. Unfortunately as you can see from the title we were unable to get the more powerful 750W variant and so we will be testing the second best with our usual system which takes up to 750W of power under heavy load that should push the 650W variant to the limit.
