INTRODUCTION

Satellite navigation has always felt a bit futuristic, even after its massive introduction by various manufacturers. And why not since it is kind of magical to see the real world around us synchronized with digital maps found in such a small device. Garmin, Magellan and later on Mio were the first companies to create GPS devices and ever since they have dominated the market with solutions varying from cheap models and 3.5-inch screen to expensive models that in some occasions can even feature a 7-inch screen. Most drivers are satisfied with the typical 3.5-inch screens on most cheap GPS devices out there in the market, but for some size and quality matters a lot more. Today our first GPS device here at Real World Labs is made by a rather new company in the field, TakeMS.

TakeMS was founded in March 2002 and almost 6 years later they have advanced a lot by winning many races and being certified with countless national and international awards. TakeMS managed to sell over 5 million products in more than 45 countries until July 2006 when they became an independent company. Since then their products have been of the highest standards in quality and price/performance ratio in more than 50 countries and at the same time their customer support is flawless. These are all virtues that their customers have learned to trust and respect. Their current range of products includes memory kits, flash memories, multimedia players, external hard drives, digital picture frames, accessories and GPS navigation systems.

The first GPS navigation system by TakeMS is the Traffix 43. The Traffix 43 is a GPS unit with a 16:9 format, 4.3-inch touch screen that although it is not the biggest around, still it should be more than enough. The unit also comes with a variety of features such as TMC, Night Mode, 2D/3D map mode, Bluetooth and much more. Considering this is their first attempt i was a bit skeptical in the beginning but as you will also see those thoughts went away really fast.
