INTRODUCTION

Although i would really like to attend this year’s International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas aside the fact that there are loads of things to be done and just too many things to test/review I’ve also been ill for the past 3 days so i hope i can be excused for cutting a few corners in today’s review. Now as some of you may know already inside 2011 there was a large increase in the sales of NAS units around the world and that clearly shows that people have begun to trust them more. So today will be our very first NAS review of 2012 (with many more to come) and as clearly stated at the article tag we will be taking a thorough look at the latest Synology Dual Bay NAS Server the DiskStation DS212+.
Founded in 2000, Synology is a young and energetic company dedicated to developing high-performance, reliable, versatile, and environmentally-friendly Network Attached Storage (NAS) products. Our goal is to deliver user-friendly solutions and solid customer service to satisfy the needs of businesses, home offices, individual users and families.
Much like with every Synology DiskStation NAS Server out there the DS212+ takes its name from the number of Bays, the year of release (two last numbers) and the model specifications so unlike the entry level DiskStation DS212j we reviewed a couple of months ago the DiskStation DS212+ is the exact opposite meaning the high end version of that particular line. Synology also manufactures the mid-end DiskStation DS212 NAS server which as expected is the most balanced product of the dual bay DiskStation line in terms of price and performance. So let's see just how much better the DS212+ is compared not only to the DS212j but also to its immediate competition.
