AMD Phenom and Intel Quad-Core Specs
The most noticeable difference between the AMD Phenom and the Intel Core2 Quad revolves around AMD's HyperTransport Technology and what it brings to the table. Phenom uses the latest revision, HTT 3.0 which connects to both the memory and system components. Intel's Front Side Bus connects to a chip that in turn connects to memory and components.

More information can be obtained by watching our magic CPUID image as it rotates through 9500, 9700, 9900 and QX6700 specs. Phenom 9900 uses the HTT bus at 2.0 while the other Phenoms use 1.8. We tested with AMD’s Cool and Quiet settings on and Intel’s Speed Step. In the above image the Intel part is running at 1.6 GHz but under load it raises to 2.66.
